Recently I've had a chance to try out the new Rigol DSG815 RF generator. After watching this tear down by the famous Dave from the EEVblog I decided this was a generator I wanted to try. Here is the link to his tear down below:
One thing I like about the unit is the build quality you get for the price range. At 2400 dollars it can easily compete with more expensive generators. As Dave mentioned, I agree that the buttons have an odd shape, but that’s only minor. The interface however is great and very easy to figure out without looking at the manual. One of the other features I enjoy is the fact that it has a LF output so you can output lower frequency unmodulated signals which have no link the main RF output. All in all, it’s a great unit… I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a RF generator for less than 3000 dollars.
